Aceitação-rejeição parental e confiança interpessoal nas relações íntimas

Abstract

As relações fazem parte da existência humana, sendo que o humano é concebido dentro de relações, nasce em relações e vive a sua vida relacionando-se com outros. As relações representam um facto fundamental para a condição humana. A família e sobretudo os pais são centrais na existência humana, assumindo um importante papel no processo de desenvolvimento de relações. Por seu lado, a confiança interpessoal desempenha um papel fundamental na formação e manutenção de relações íntimas (Rotenberg, 2001). Apesar da quantidade de investigações sobre a confiança, estas tornam-se escassas no que respeita aos fatores que contribuem para o seu desenvolvimento (Rotenberg, Betts, Eisner, & Ribeaud, 2012). Desta forma, esta investigação tem como objetivo primordial estudar o papel que determinadas variáveis familiares, nomeadamente a aceitação-rejeição parental, têm no desenvolvimento da confiança interpessoal nas relações íntimas, e mais propriamente, com o par amoroso, a partir da jovem adultez. Para tal, utilizou-se uma amostra de 302 sujeitos, com idades a partir dos 18 anos, que tivessem mantido uma relação durante, pelo menos, seis meses, pedindo-lhes que completassem um Questionário Sociodemográfico, a adaptação portuguesa da ADULD PARQ: Mother/Father (Short Form) (Rohner, 2004; versão portuguesa, Franco- Borges & Vaz-Rebelo, 2010) e a adaptação portuguesa da Rotenberg’s Specific Trust Scale-Adults (Rotenberg, 2013; versão portuguesa de Vale- Dias & Franco-Borges, 2014). Segundo a hipótese formulada, expecta-se que a qualidade das relações familiares constituirá, por si só, uma variável preditora do desenvolvimento da confiança interpessoal em relações íntimas, tendo em conta que é na interação familiar que se encontram os protótipos para as relações íntimas futuras (Berscheid & Peplau, 1983 cit. in Berscheid et al., 1983). Os resultados encontrados neste estudo revelam a existência de relações de associação e de influência, ainda que modestas, entre a aceitação-rejeição parental e a confiança interpessoal depositada no par amoroso. O sexo foi uma variável que revelou também influenciar a confiança interpessoal. Esta investigação pretende assim salientar e divulgar a importância que as relações familiares têm no estabelecimento da confiança interpessoal no seio de uma relação íntima, no sentido de auxiliar na promoção de famílias, e principalmente pessoas confiáveis. Sendo que uma relação tem como objetivo provável a constituição da base de uma família.

Relations are part of human existence, and the human is conceived within relationships, is born in relationships and lives his life relating with others. Relationships represent a fundamental fact for the human condition. The family and especially parents are central to human existence. In turn, interpersonal trust plays a key role in the formation and maintenance of intimate relationships (Rotenberg, 2001). Despite the amount of research on trust, they become scarce regarding the factors that contribute to its development (Rotenberg, Betts, Eisner, & Ribeaud, 2012). Thus, this research primarily aims to study the role that certain family variables, including the parental acceptance-rejection, have in the development of interpersonal trust in close relationships, and more specifically, with the loving couple, from young adulthood. For this purpose, a sample of 302 subjects, will be used with ages from 18 years old who have maintained a relationship for at least six months, that will complete a Sociodemographic Questionnaire, the Portuguese adaptation of ADULD PARQ: Mother/Father (Short Form) (Rohner, 2004, portuguese version, Franco-Borges & Vaz-Rebelo, 2010) and the portuguese adaptation of Rotenberg's Specific Trust Scale-Adults (Rotenberg, 2013; portuguese version of Vale-Dias & Franco-Borges, 2014). Considering our hypothesis it is expected that the quality of family relationships constitutes, by itself, a predictor of the development of interpersonal trust in close relationships, given that family interactions are prototypes for future intimate relationships (Berscheid & Peplau, 1983 cit. in Berscheid et al., 1983). The results of this study reveal the existence of relations of association and influence, although modest, between parental acceptance-rejection and interpersonal trust in the loving couple. This research therefore aims to show the importance that family relationships have in the establishment of interpersonal trust within an intimate relationship, in order to help promote families and specially people of trust.
