dc.description.abstract | The application of the Air-lift pumping technique in several areas has raised the interest of its application to inverted siphons since, not only by the replacement of conventional lift mechanisms, aerates the liquid mass thus solving some of the conditions of the sewage disposal in inverted siphons. Following previous works, particularly Diogo and Oliveira (2008), Oliveira (2009) and Gomes and Diogo (2011) and in progress Diogo Oliveira, and based on the principle that defines the air injection lifting technique, this thesis focuses on the study of the air-water twophase flow, which seeks to experimentally quantify the major advantages in terms of hydraulic load may make the technique when applied to siphons. The experimental work took place at the facility built in the LHRHA DEC-UC and consists of a siphon with two branches in parallel, with a diameter 35 and 110 mm, with alternate function which takes place in a two-phase flow in the ascending tube. The performance of the air injection pump has been studied for different flow velocities. | por |
