ABSTRACT "Perception of the Sociocultural Environment and Physical and Pratice of Sport and Physical Activity - a Comparative Study of two Urban Green Spaces" The main objetive of this dissertation is to contribute to a better understanding of how it is perceived the physical environment in urban green spaces, identifying and comparing the environmental factors inhibitors and stimulators of physical practices in different spaces. Thus, try to perceive what better physical configuration to give these spaces so that they become attractive, for the practice of physical practices. We applied a questionnaire to 432 users of Urban Parks, divided by the City Parks Almada (237) and Barreiro (195) and of these, 268 are female and the other (164) male. To test the hypotheses we use a significance level (α) ≤ 0.05 and 0.01. The statistical analysis was performed with SPSS 18.0. It is concluded that the only individual factors inhibiting are the "Rain" and "Pollution". On the other hand, the most stimulating factors are the "Geographical Beauty", the "Follow-up of friends" and "Geographical location". Regarding the influence of sociodemographic characteristics on the perception, we found statistically significant differences, confirming the influence thereof such as Gender, Age, the Marital status, the Educational level, and Professional occupation. The only sociodemographic characteristic that does not influence the perception is the Social Class. It is also concluded that the achievement of physical and sporting activities does not influence the perception of environmental determinants of physical activities. Since the type of physical activity influences the perception part. Only “Architectural Technology” Fator and is influenced by the type of physical activity. Comparing the results in both spaces, we observed that the overall perception does not undergo major changes, since both spaces, received approximately the same score (69.64, 68.6). However, some differences were observed when analyzing the indicators, so we accept the influence of space in the perception.
