Representações sociais em torno da violência conjugal:estudo exploratório junto de agressores

Abstract

O presente estudo teve como objectivo geral avaliar as representações sociais de uma amostra de agressores (n=19) de violência conjugal, recolhida em instituições de avaliação e acompanhamento a agressores e num estabelecimento prisional da região Centro do País. Pensando que a existência de representações sociais legitimadoras da violência, por parte dos agressores, pode facilitar o seu comportamento violento e pode contribuir para a desvalorização da necessidade de modificação da conduta abusiva, considerou-se pertinente investigar a forma como legitimam, mais ou menos, a violência conjugal e as razões que identificam como estando na base da sua emergência, manutenção e possibilidade de resolução. Com tais objectivos, foi aplicado o seguinte protocolo de investigação: Questionário de Violência Conjugal – Histórias (QRVC-HIS), Escala de Crenças da Violência Conjugal (ECVC), Questionário de Violência Conjugal – Causas, Manutenção e Resolução (QVC-CMR). Os resultados obtidos indicaram uma discordância moderada por parte dos participantes, o que indicia que a população em estudo parece legitimar pouco a violência conjugal. Contudo, verificou-se uma maior legitimação da violência perpetrada por indivíduos do sexo feminino e de idade avançada, evidenciando uma tendência para desculpabilizá-la. As causas de violência mais apontadas colocam a tónica no próprio agressor ou em aspectos que o afectam directamente. Os factores de manutenção com maior concordância reflectem uma leitura centrada primordialmente na figura da vítima, reconhecendo também como importantes para a manutenção da violência as promessas de mudança de comportamento por parte do agressor e a falta de denúncia de tais comportamentos. Finalmente, os factores de resolução mais referidos enfatizam aspectos relacionais, intra-individuais e sócio-culturais como forma de combater e erradicar o fenómeno da violência conjugal.

This study aims to evaluate the social representations of a sample of male offenders (n=19) of conjugal violence, collected from institutions able to assess and monitorize offenders and in the prision situated in the central region of the country. Thinking that the existence of representations social legitimating of violence by male perpetrators may facilitate their violent behavior and may contribute to the devaluation of the need to amend the abusive conduct, it was considered relevant to investigate how legitimate, more or less, marital violence and the reasons who identify as being the basis for its emergence, maintenance and possible resolution. With these objectives it was applied the following investigation protocol: Violence Conjugal Questionnaire – Stories (QVC-HIS); Belief Scale of Marital Violence (ECVC) and Questionnaire of Conjugal Violence - Causes, Maintenance and Resolution (QVC-CMR). The results indicated a moderate disagreement by participants, which shows that the sample of this study seems little to legitimate conjugal violence. However, there was a greater legitimization of violence by females and older individuals, showing a tendency for excused her. The most quoted causes of violence put the focus on the offender himself or on issues that affect them directly. The maintenance factors with greater agreement reflect a reading centered primarily in the figure of the victim, also recognizing as important for the maintenance of violence the offender’s promises to change his behavior and the lack of reporting such behavior. Finally, the resolution factors most mentioned emphasize the relational, intra-individual and social cultural aspects as a way to combat and eradicate the phenomenon of marital violence.
