Uma «littera indulgentiarum» avinionense de 1356 na Colegiada de Santa Maria de Alcáçova de Santarém (Portugal)

Abstract

Neste artigo, o Autor apresenta e publica, com o devido comentário paleográfico e diplomático, uma carta colectiva de indulgências oriunda de Avinhão, cidade onde foi escrita e iluminada no ano de 1356. Discute, também, o problema da existência deste género de fontes primárias medievais em Portugal e tece algumas considerações acerca do sistema de indulgências na história da Igreja Católica naqueles séculos.

In this article, the author presents and publishes, with appropriated commentaries on the field of palaeography and diplomatic, onde illuminated collective letter of indulgences from Avignon which has been written in 1356. He discusses the problem of that kind of documents in the context of Portuguese primary sources of the Middle Ages and considers the system of indulgences in the history of the Catholic Church during those centuries.
