Abstract

The Community Pharmacy is for some the only access way to the health system, which highlights the importance of the role of the community pharmacist. The pharmacist, as a health professional, places the patient at the center of his activity, aiming at promoting health and the rational use of medication, a fact that I was able to verify during my internship in Community Pharmacy.Labesfal is part of the Fresenius-Kabi group, a multinational Pharmaceutical Industry with operations in areas like parenteral and enteral nutrition, fluid therapy and injectable drugs,medical devices and transfusion technologies, and biosimilars. As an intern in the quality assurance department, assigned to complaints management, I had the opportunity to get contact with the finished product and with the entire process involved in its production.Psychological pathologies, such as depression and anxiety, are currently one of the main causes of morbidity and mortality in the world, so the need for effective and lasting treatment is essential. The lack of a therapy option with an efficacy greater than 50% and with definitive results opened the doors to research with LSD, psilocybin and MDMA in this area.This document falls within the scope of the curricular unit “Internship” of the Integrated Masters in Pharmaceutical Sciences. It’s divided into three parts, firstly addressing my experience as an intern at Farmácia Augusta, secondly the impact of my internship at Labesfal - Fresenius-Kabi, ending with the monograph that focuses on the pharmacological actions of LSD, psilocybin and MDMA in mental illness, as adjuncts to psychotherapy.

A Farmácia Comunitária é para alguns a única porta de acesso ao sistema de saúde, o que salienta a importância do papel do farmacêutico comunitário. O farmacêutico, como profissional de saúde, coloca no centro da sua atividade o doente, visando a promoção à saúde e o uso racional do medicamento, facto que pude verificar durante o meu estágio curricular em Farmácia Comunitária.A Labesfal faz parte do grupo Fresenius-Kabi, uma Indústria Farmacêutica multinacional com destaque nas áreas de nutrição parentérica e entérica, fluidoterapia e medicamentos injetáveis, dispositivos médicos e tecnologias de transfusão, e biossimilares. Como estagiária no departamento de garantia de qualidade, alocada à gestão de reclamações, tive oportunidade de contactar com o produto acabar e com todo o processo envolvido na sua produção.As patologias do foro psicológicos, como a depressão e a ansiedade, são atualmente uma das principais causas de morbilidades e mortalidade no mundo, pelo que a necessidade de um tratamento eficaz e duradouro é essencial. A falta de uma opção terapêutica com uma eficácia superior a 50% e com resultados definitivos abriram as portas à investigação do LSD, da psilocibina e do MDMA nesta área.Este documento enquadra-se no âmbito da unidade curricular “Estágio” do Mestrado Integrado em Ciências Farmacêuticas. Encontra-se dividido em três partes, abordando em primeiro lugar a minha experiência em farmácia comunitária como estagiária na Farmácia Augusta, em segundo lugar o impacto do meu estágio na Labesfal - Fresenius-Kabi, terminando com a monografia que foca as ações farmacológicas do LSD, psilocibina e MDMA em doenças do foro mental, como adjuntos à psicoterapia.
