dc.description.abstract | Stomach cancer presents itself as a cancer with high incidence and associated mortality, being one of the leading causes of cancer-related death worldwide. It causes the death of about 70% of patients affected by the condition; thus, it is important to understand its pathogenesis and to know the best approaches to prevent or delay its onset. Various stimuli have been identified as aggravating factors for the development of stomach cancer, being associated with the interaction of various environmental, genetic, and microbiota factors. Currently, inflammatory processes have been gaining importance in the causal relationship with the onset of this condition, although this relationship is not yet fully understood. However, it is evident that chronic inflammation causes changes in gastric mucosa, stimulating uncontrolled cell proliferation and the formation of lesions that lead to carcinogenesis. Understanding the mechanisms that lead to the appearance of this type of cancer and treating it in the best way through different types of treatment is of utmost importance to mitigate the high associated mortality. Thus, it is relevant to keep knowledge about this topic up to date. The main objective of this review was to evaluate the factors that influence the inflammatory processes leading to the onset of stomach cancer and the best prevention and treatment strategies. | eng |
