Heranças históricas do concelho de Penela: os vestígios da presença muçulmana

Abstract

This Master's Report aims to address in a scientific way the importance of the islamic community in the Municipality of Penela, living up to regional multiculturalism, still latent today. It is a pioneering approach, as there are no scientific analyzes on this particular subject. It is intended to make known to the Scientific Community this historical aspect, little analyzed, since it is part of the identity of the Municipality of Penela. The necessary research and analysis of varied documentation, as well as oral records, was enriching for the preparation of this work. The practical component was very important to understand the work dynamics, within a Culture Division, in which it was relevant to participate in all cultural activities, over the six months of internship. Of note are the activities carried out at the well-known Penela Presépio, as well as at the outstanding cultural event, the Medieval Fair of Penela, which celebrated its 27th edition this year, which translates into appreciation for the event, both by national and by foreign visitors. Connecting historical information with reality, we realize the importance of the events that took place in the municipality over the centuries, denoting the importance of “small patches,” which come together in a broader framework, making us aware of the grandeur of the human evolution up to the present. The Municipality of Penela has been standing out, through its inclusive policies and its dynamics, in order to make known its particular richness, so appealing to those who visit.

O presente Relatório de Mestrado visa abordar de um modo científico a importância da comunidade islâmica no Concelho de Penela, fazendo jus a multiculturalidade regional, latente ainda nos dias de hoje. É uma abordagem pioneira, dado não existirem análises científicas sobre este assunto particular. É pretendido dar a conhecer à Comunidade Científica esta vertente histórica, pouco analisada, uma vez que faz parte da identidade concelhia penelense. A necessária pesquisa e análise de variada documentação, bem como de registos orais, foi enriquecedora para a elaboração deste trabalho. A componente prática foi muito importante para se compreender a dinâmica laboral, no seio de uma Divisão de Cultura, em que foi pertinente a participação em todas as atividades culturais, ao longo de seis meses de estágio. São de destacar as atividades efetuadas, no já conhecido Penela Presépio, bem como no evento cultural de destaque, a Feira Medieval de Penela, que celebrou este ano a 27.ª edição, o que se traduz no apreço ao evento, quer por visitantes nacionais, quer por visitantes estrangeiros. Ao se conectar a informação histórica com a realidade, percebemos a importância dos eventos que ocorreram no Concelho, ao longo dos séculos, denotando a importância dos “pequenos retalhos,” que se unem num quadro mais alargado, dando-nos a conhecer a grandiosidade da evolução humana até à atualidade. O Município de Penela tem vindo a destacar-se, através das suas políticas inclusivas e da sua dinâmica, de modo a dar a conhecer a sua riqueza particular, tão apelativa a quem visita.
