Title: | Protótipo Blockchain para Centrais Elétricas Virtuais | Other Titles: | Blockchain Prototype for Virtual Power Plants | Authors: | Ribeiro, Márcio José Lopes | Orientador: | Barata, João Nuno Lopes Cunha, Paulo José Osório Rupino da |
Keywords: | central elétrica virtual; blockchain; recurso energético distribuido; virtual power plant; blockchain; distributed energy resource | Issue Date: | 11-Sep-2023 | Project: | info:eu-repo/grantAgreement/FCT/6817 - DCRRNI ID/UIDP/00326/2020/PT | Serial title, monograph or event: | Protótipo Blockchain para Centrais Elétricas Virtuais | Place of publication or event: | DEI-FCTUC | Abstract: | Uma Central Elétrica Virtual / Virtual Power Plant (VPP) agrega recursos energéticos distribuídos / distributed energy resources (DERs) de forma a trabalharem em conjunto como se de uma única central de tratasse tornando-se assim um modelo importante na integração de fontes de energia renovável no setor energético. A Virtual Power Plant (VPP) aggregates distributed energy resources (DERs) so that they work together as if they were a single power plant. This makes it an important model for integrating renewable energy sources into the energy sector. In recent years, blockchain technology has been tested to store essential VPP information. This is because blockchain has the characteristics of transparency, immutability, automation, and traceability. These characteristics are promising and could offer benefits to the operation of this type of facility. The first phase of this work includes a systematic literature review conducted to investigate how blockchain technology is used in VPPs. The results of the review revealed that blockchain technology plays a key role in simplifying energy transactions and managing operations in VPPs. The advantages include greater transparency, trust between participants, greater energy efficiency, and reduced energy costs. The second phase presents the development of a prototype that will be used as a reference for the implementation of a VPP. This prototype offers its users the ability to manage VPP components, supervise maintenance activities, analyze data from smart meters to monitor energy flow, and evaluate data from component sensors to monitor operational status. The use of blockchain technology guarantees data integrity and transparency, promoting trust between the participating organizations. In summary, this research provides valuable information that contributes to the progress of the energy sector with blockchain, wich is currently evolving. |
