O estado da arte da Inovação, Impacto Social e Desafios para o futuro das ONGD Portuguesas

Abstract

O presente relatório representa um fim de ciclo como estudante do Mestrado em Sociologia, na Faculdade de Economia da Universidade de Coimbra. Tem o propósito essencial de refletir sobre o trabalho desenvolvido ao longo do estágio na Organização Não Governamental para o Desenvolvimento (ONGD) World Needs (WN), sediada em Aveiro, onde foi possível aplicar os conhecimentos aprendidos durante o percurso académico.Neste trabalho começa-se por fazer um enquadramento teórico-conceptual, com o estado da arte das ONG e ONGD portuguesas, a sua relação com o Terceiro Sector (TS) e economia social. Procura-se entender a dinâmica e o papel das ONGD portuguesas, assim como, a relevância da inovação social e da importância da medição do seu desempenho no impacto destas na sociedade.Durante o estágio foi dada continuidade à construção de uma base de dados de organizações do TS. Esta serviu como ponto de partida para a realização de um estudo sobre as práticas e os valores das organizações do TS da área de direitos humanos e cidadania. Através da sua análise, pretende-se com este estudo perceber quais as respostas sociais, área de atuação e verificar como medem o seu impacto social.Este relatório procura ainda demonstrar o papel preponderante que as OTS têm para uma melhoria significativa da sociedade e refletir sobre os principais desafios e problemáticas que as ONGD possuem, apontando algumas soluções para o futuro, para que aumentem o seu impacto, a sua legitimidade e lacrem o seu lugar como organizações de notabilidade no Terceiro Sector.

This report marks the end of my time as a student on the Master's programme in Sociology at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Coimbra. Its essential purpose is to reflect on the work carried out during the internship at the World Needs (WN) non-governmental development organisation (NGDO), based in Aveiro, where it was possible to apply the knowledge learned during the academic courses.This work begins with a theoretical and conceptual framework, looking at the state of the art of Portuguese NGOs and NGDOs, their relationship with the Third Sector (TS) and the social economy. It seeks to understand the dynamics and role of Portuguese NGDOs, as well as the relevance of social innovation and the importance of measuring their performance in terms of their impact on society.During the internship, the construction of a database of TS organisations was continued. This served as the starting point for a study on the practices and values of social work organisations in the area of human rights and citizenship. By analysing it, the aim of this study is to understand the social responses, the area of activity and how they measure their social impact.This report also seeks to demonstrate the preponderant role that TSOs play in significantly improving society and to reflect on the main challenges and problems that NGDOs face, pointing out some solutions for the future, so that they can increase their impact, their legitimacy and seal their place as notable organisations in the Third Sector.
