Deficiência e Práticas Artísticas: o papel do teatro na identidade das pessoas com deficiência visual

Abstract

A prática teatral de pessoas com deficiência é um campo de interesse e uma realidade relativamente recente para os estudos da deficiência. Esta dissertação é baseada no acompanhamento do primeiro ano de implementação do projeto “A Meu Ver”. O projeto “A Meu Ver”, com duração de 3 anos, é financiado pela Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian e pela Fundação La Caixa no âmbito do Programa Partis & Art for Change, sendo um projeto dedicado à prática teatral com pessoas cegas e de baixa visão. Este projeto de formação e integração artística, está incluído no Projeto Pedagógico do Teatrão - Oficina Municipal de Teatro, implementado em parceria com a Associação de Cegos e Amblíopes de Portugal - Delegação de Coimbra. O objetivo principal do estudo que presidiu a esta dissertação foi analisar o papel da prática teatral na construção da identidade das pessoas com deficiência visual, participantes no projeto “A Meu Ver”. A investigação abordará também os impactos produzidos pelo projeto a nível pessoal, social e familiar nas pessoas com deficiência visual envolvidas. Finalmente, pretende compreender a importância da experiência da prática artística, incluindo os desafios inerentes, particularmente, através do teatro, na construção identitária dos/das participantes e no fortalecimento do seu sentimento de pertença a um grupo da comunidade. Este estudo recorreu a uma metodologia qualitativa, mobilizando diferentes técnicas de recolha de dados. Estas técnicas foram selecionadas atendendo à necessidade de compreender em profundidade a essência do projeto “A Meu Ver” em termos de acesso e integração artística de pessoas com deficiência visual, assim como, o papel que vem desempenhando na construção da identidade das pessoas participantes.

Theatre practice by disabled people is a new field of interest and a relatively recent reality for disability studies. This dissertation is based on the follow-up of the first year of implementation the project "A Meu Ver". The project "A Meu Ver", with a duration of 3 years, is funded by the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and Foundation La Caixa under the Partis & Art for Change Program, being a project dedicated to theatrical practice with blind and low vision people. This training and artistic integration project is included in the Pedagogical Project of Teatrão - Municipal Theatre Office, being implemented in partnership with the Associação de Cegos e Amblíopes de Portugal - Coimbra Delegation. The main objective of the study that presided over this dissertation was to analyze the role of the theatrical practice in the construction of identity of people with visual disability, participants in the project "A Meu Ver". The research will also address the impacts produced by the project at a personal, social and family level in the visually disabled people involved. Finally, it aims to understand the importance of the experience of the practice of art, including the inherent challenges, particularly through theater, in the construction of identity of the participants and in reinforcing their sense of belonging to a community group. This study used a qualitative methodology, mobilizing different data collection techniques. These techniques were selected given the need to understand in depth the essence of the project "A Meu Ver'' in terms of access and artistic integration of people with visual disability, as well as the role it has been playing in building the identity of the participants.
