Autonomia ou complementaridade? Metodologias da antropologia e da história para o estudo da intolerância

Abstract

Este artigo tem como objetivo apresentar o dossiê “Como Estudar a Intolerância? Contributos da Antropologia e da História (Contexto Português e Brasileiro)”. Evidencia-se a importância da utilização de metodologias científicas, distintas e complementares, principalmente ligadas às áreas da antropologia e da história. Os contextos de análise são Portugal e o Brasil, aprofundando-se sobretudo o período entre o século XIX e a atualidade. Num segundo momento, são apresentados os artigos que compõem o dossiê, resultantes de várias pesquisas da autoria de onze autores/as com afiliações a distintas instituições científicas, em Portugal e no Brasil. No final, conclui-se sobre a importância de promover análises complementares, interdisciplinares e interseccionais no que respeita ao estudo da intolerância

This article aims to present the special issue “How to Study Intolerance? Contributions from Anthropology and History (Portuguese and Brazilian Context)”. The importance of using distinct and complementary scientific methodologies (mostly those linked to the areas of anthropology and history) is evidenced. The contexts of analysis are Portugal and Brazil, delving deeper especially the period between the nineteenth century and the present. In a second moment, the articles that integrate the special issue are presented. They are the result of various kinds of research by eleven authors with affiliations to different scientific institutions, in Portugal and Brazil. In the end, the article concludes on the importance of promoting complementary, interdisciplinary and intersectional analyses with regard to the study of intolerance.
