Una historia trágico-telúrica: Miguel Torga y la guerra civil Española

Abstract

Como es bien sabido, la Guerra Civil Española, un trágico acontecimiento que anunció la Segunda Guerra Mundial, atrajo la atención de numerosos escritores e intelectuales, algunos de los cuales se ofrecieron como voluntarios para luchar sobre el terreno. El caso del escritor portugués Miguel Torga (1907-1995) es el tema de este artículo. Dado que otros autores ya han analizado este tema, es mi intención hacer que su poesía dialogue con otros autores de la época (los poetas Fernando Pessoa y Mário Beirão, el compositor Fernando Lopes-Graça, entre otros) con el fin de entender las influencias y la dinámica que giran en torno a la Guerra Civil. Por otra parte, a través de su diario personal y una novela autobiográfica, trataremos de integrar su comprensión de la guerra en el marco más amplio del iberismo que suscribió a lo largo de su vida.

As it is well known, the Spanish Civil War, a tragic event that heralded the Second orld War, attracted the attention of many writers and intellectuals, some of whom volunteered to fight in. The case of the Portuguese writer Miguel Torga (1907-1995) is the subject of this paper. Since other authors have already analysed this topic, it is my intention to have his poetry discussed with other authors of the time (the poets Fernando Pessoa and Mário Beirão, the composer Fernando Lopes-Graça, among others) in order to understand the influences and dynamics that revolve around the Civil War. On the other hand, through his personal diary and an autobiographical novel, we will try to integrate his understanding of the war into the broader framework of the Iberianism he subscribed to throughout his life.
