Abstract

Relatório de Estágio em Patologia Forense referente ao estágio realizado no âmbito do Mestrado em Medicina Legal e Ciências Forenses, da Faculdade de Medicina da Universidade de Coimbra. O estágio foi realizado na Unidade Funcional de Patologia Forense (UFPF), no Serviço de Clínica e Patologia Forenses da Delegação do Sul do Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal e Ciências Forenses (DS-INMLCF, I.P.), em Lisboa.Os objetivos estabelecidos para este estágio foram conhecer a organização do Instituto Nacional de Medicina Legal e Ciências Forenses (INMLCF, I.P.) e da DS-INMLCF, I.P., compreender o objetivo da autópsia médico-legal (AML) e quando se realiza, compreender e participar nos procedimentos para realização de Exames do Hábito Externo (EHE) e da técnica geral de autópsia, e analisar estatisticamente a atividade desenvolvida e a população sujeita aos diferentes tipos de exames assistidos.Os objetivos foram cumpridos ao longo do estágio, tendo participado em 138 exames: 106 AML clássicas, 28 EHE e 4 autópsias minimamente invasivas (AMI). Foram praticadas várias técnicas de evisceração e disseção de órgãos. Foi feita uma análise estatística descritiva e de frequência dos exames assistidos, com os relatórios terminados até à realização deste relatório. Dos 138 exames assistidos, estavam completos 63 relatórios de AML clássica, 28 EHE e 4 AMI (94 relatórios ao todo), o que corresponde à maior limitação do estudo estatístico da atividade desenvolvida. É possível apurar que a maioria dos indivíduos sujeitos a exames periciais de AML clássica e EHE são homens, portugueses de afinidade populacional europeia. As faixas etárias variam, dependendo do tipo de exame. A maioria das mortes observadas são mortes naturais, sendo que nas mortes violentas, a etiologia médico-legal mais comum é a acidental.Conclui-se que os objetivos do estágio foram atingidos. Os conhecimentos, competências e aptidões adquiridos durante o estágio tornaram possível crescer como profissional e como pessoa.

Internship Report in Forensic Pathology, as a request to obtain a master degree in Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Coimbra. The internship took place in the Forensic Pathology Unit of the South Branch of the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, P.I. (SB-NILMFS, P.I.), in Lisbon. The internship aims were: learn about the organization of the National Institute of Legal Medicine and Forensic Sciences, P.I. (NILMFS, P.I.) and the SB-NILMFS, P.I.; understand the purpose of the forensic autopsy (FA) and when it is performed; understand and participate in the external examination (EE) procedures, as well as the evisceration techniques in the forensic autopsy; perform a statistical analysis of the activity performed during the internship and characterise the population submitted to the different exams. The aims were accomplished during the internship, having collaborated in 138 exams: 106 classical FA, 28 EE and 4 minimally invasive autopsies (MIA). Several evisceration and organ dissection techniques were performed. A descriptive and frequency statistical analysis was done to the exams participated, with the finished reports available until the writing of this report. Of the 138 exams, there were 63 available reports for FA, 28 EE and 4 MIA (94 reports in total), which was the biggest limitation of the statistical analysis of the exams participated. It’s possible to assess that the majority of the individuals submitted to FA and EE are Portuguese men, of European population affinity. The age groups vary, depending on the type of exams. Most of the cases had natural death causes, and violent deaths were mostly of accidental nature. In conclusion, the aims for the internship were fully accomplished. The knowledge, ability and skills acquired during this internship made it possible to grow as a professional and as a person.
