dc.description.abstract | Within the scope of this curricular internship, the student is in charge of performing 3D computational modeling of steel connections for the metallic roofs presented in this report using the IDEA Statica software for existing projects, but still in the development phase. The detailing of hollow steel sections, the verification of lateral instability of the elements, the control of bolting or welding and the search for modeling solutions for connections of multiple confluent elements at the same node, are part of the intern's responsibility at this stage. The contracting company, Dr. Neven Kostic GmbH, has been working with other finite element software such as AxisVM for a long time, but intends to make some comparisons with the IDEA Statica software, which also allows the design and dimensioning of metallic connections with different configurations. The objective of the internship consists not only in the comparative analysis of the results of some metallic connections between the software and/or the potential of both, but mainly in knowing the applicability of IDEA Statica and learning how to use the software for its possible integration in the company. When possible, also simplify and optimize the dimensioning of steel connections (for the 2 projects that are going to be covered in this report) that are not yet in the final stage of development. These 2 projects in question are the reinforced concrete building in Singapore with a steel roof and the new Koch Quartier public park in Zurich. For both projects, only their metallic roofs were studied within the scope of this internship. | eng |
