Hortas urbanas comunitárias de Cascais: mapeamento dos usos e motivações

Abstract

Este texto tem como objetivo mapear os principais usos e motivações dos hortelãos das hortas comunitárias do Município de Cascais, Portugal. Por meio da realização de 12 entrevistas, identificou-se como usos gerais cultivar e apanhar produtos frescos, socializar e ensinar os mais novos. Quanto às motivações, destacaram-se o fortalecimento de laços sociais e o contacto com a terra, fazer uma alimentação mais saudável e o lazer/ter um entretenimento. O contributo desta pesquisa é o de informar melhores políticas públicas, no sentido de ajustá-las a uma maior participação dos munícipes em atividades que visem o desenvolvimento urbano sustentável.

This text aims to map the main uses and motivations of gardeners in community gardens in the Municipality of Cascais, Portugal. Through the completion of 12 interviews, it was identified as general uses to cultivate and harvest fresh produce, socialize, and teach younger people. As for the motivations, the strengthening of social ties and contact with the land, making a healthier diet and leisure/entertainment stood out. The contribution of this research is to inform better public policies to adjust them to greater participation of the municipalities in activities aimed at sustainable urban development.
