Ajustamento Familiar ao Divórcio e Coparentalidade

Abstract

A dissolução conjugal é um evento crítico que influencia o percurso desenvolvimental da família e que exige uma reestruturação a nível individual e familiar. Um dos principais preditores do ajustamento familiar à separação ou divórcio é a qualidade das relações coparentais estabelecidas antes e após a dissolução. O presente estudo tem como foco de investigação a análise do papel mediador da coparentalidade na relação entre a variável familiarnúmero de filhos e o ajustamento familiar à dissolução conjugal.Adicionalmente, explorou-se o impacto de variáveis sociodemográficas e variáveis familiares, no ajustamento ao divórcio e na coparentalidade respetivamente. Realizou-se um estudo quantitativo com uma amostra constituída por 56 pais e mães que vivenciaram uma separação ou um divórcio. Os dados dos participantes foram recolhidos através de um protocolo, em formato on-line, onde foi aplicado um Questionário Sociodemográfico, de Dados Familiares e Complementares, o Divorce Adjustment Inventory Revised (DAI-R) traduzido por Morais (2007) e o Questionário da Coparentalidade (QC) versão adaptada e validada por Pedro e Ribeiro(2008). Os resultados demonstraram inexistência de efeito mediador da cooperação (coparentalidade) na relação entre o número de filhos e o ajustamento ao divórcio, apesar de ter sido obtido um efeito direto significativo entre a cooperação e o ajustamento ao divórcio. Não foram encontradas diferenças estatisticamente significativas em relação à associação entre as variáveis sociodemográficas e familiares, no ajustamento ao divórcio e na coparentalidade. Perante a falta de investigação científica relativa a tópicos abordados neste estudo,pretende-se com este trabalho colmatar a escassez de investigações nesta área.

Marital dissolution is a critical event that influences the family´s developmental path and requires restructuring at the individual and family levels. One of the main predictors of family adjustment to separation or divorce is the quality of coparental relationships established before and after the dissolution. The present study focuses on the analysis of the mediating role of coparenting in the relationship between the family variable number of children and family adjustment to marital dissolution. Additionally, we explored the impact of sociodemographic variables and family variables on adjustment to divorce and coparenting, respectively. A quantitative study was conducted with a sample of 56 fathers and mothers who had experienced separation or divorce. The participants data were collected through an online questionnaire, where the following instruments were applied: the Sociodemographic, Family and Complementary Data Questionnaire, the Divorce Adjustment Inventory Revised (DAI-R) translated by Morais (2007) and the Coparenting Questionnaire (QC) version adapted and validated by Pedro and Ribeiro (2008). The results showed no mediating effect of cooperation (co-parenting) on the relationship between the number of children and divorce adjustment, although a significant direct effect between cooperation and divorce adjustment was obtained. No statistically significant differences were found, regarding the association between sociodemographic and family variables, in divorce adjustment and coparenting. Given the lack of scientific research on the topics addressed in this study, this investigation aims to address the scarcity of research in this area.
