Biography
Joana Brites é Professora de História da Arte na Faculdade de Letras da Universidade de Coimbra e investigadora integrada do Centro de Estudos Interdisciplinares do Século XX. Mestre em História da Arte e Doutorada em História, especialidade de História da Arte, tem dedicado a sua investigação à arquitetura do Estado Novo (tanto a construída na metrópole, como, mais recentemente, a projetada durante este regime para o então espaço colonial português), à relação entre fascismo e modernismo e à escultura portuguesa da época contemporânea.

Joana Brites is an Assistant Professor in Art History at the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University of Coimbra and researcher at the Centre of 20th Century Interdisciplinary Studies. She holds a master's in Art History and a PhD in History with a specialization in Art History. Her research interests focus on the architecture of the Estado Novo (both the one built in the metropole, as, more recently, the one designed during this regime in the former Portuguese colonial empire), the relationship between fascism and modernism and the Portuguese sculpture of the late modern period.
