Investigação clínica em pediatria

Abstract

Esta monografia visa enquadrar a Investigação Clínica em pediatria no contexto mais abrangente dos ensaios clínicos (EC), com o principal objetivo de dar a conhecer o seu enquadramento legal e regulamentar, nomeadamente com referência aos Planos de Investigação Pediátricos (PIP). Realça-se a importância da I&D, das fases no desenvolvimento de um novo medicamento até à sua comercialização, desafios e oportunidades, com destaque para as fases dos ensaios clínicos. Pretendem-se também dar um enfoque nas diferentes dimensões e fases de um ensaio clinico e relevar a importância da observância das Boas Praticas Clinicas (BPC). Abordam-se ainda algumas especificidades dos ensaios clínicos em crianças, numa perspetiva científica, regulamentar e ética.

This monograph aims to provide framework for Clinical Research in Pediatrics in the context of clinical trials (CT), with the main objective to better known their legal and regulatory framework, particularly with reference to the Pediatric Investigation Plan (PIP). Highlights are related to the importance of Research & Development (R&D), the stages in the development of a new drug since the earlier development to the market and the challenges and opportunities, mainly in the Trial phases. The emphasis on different dimensions and stages of a CT and the importance to be in compliance with the Good Clinical Practices (GCP) is emphasized. Some specificities of CT in children from a scientific, regulatory and ethic’s point of view have been also identified.
