Title: | Citostáticos em terapia oncológica | Authors: | Pereira, Filipa Lemos | Orientador: | Costa, Saúl Campos Pereira | Keywords: | Citostáticos; Neoplasias; Antineoplásicos alquilantes | Issue Date: | Sep-2015 | Place of publication or event: | Coimbra | Abstract: | O cancro é uma doença que afeta grande parte da população mundial. A investigação
quimioterapia.
Cancer is a disease that affects much of the world's population. The constant research in a target area as important as cancer is unquestionably necessary. Each time we have a better understanding of its causes, how it develops and grows and its progression. It is also being studied new ways of preventing, detecting and treating, always paying attention to improving the quality of life of cancer patients during and after treatment. The chemotherapeutic agents can be classified according to their mechanism of action, independently of that they all present toxicity and many neoplastic cells can exhibit resistance to these drugs. Research in cancer therapy includes past, present and future. It is still very far from having fully satisfactory and conclusive results. It is essential to the continuous focus on research directed cancer therapy in order to reduce the toxicity of cytostatic drugs, a major obstacle to chemotherapy. ROS-activated alkylating agents, particularly nitrogen mustards are the result of, among many, investigations and studies have been conducted. |
