Problemática Metafísica e Especulação Esotérica na Poesia Portuguesa da Modernidade: de Antero a Régio

Abstract

O presente trabalho incide no esoterismo, herança espiritual e intelectual milenar, profundamente implicada na criação literária de todos os tempos, tanto oriental como ocidental. Tem como objectivo específico tornar mais explícita a relevância desse sistema de pensamento espiritualista na poesia portuguesa da modernidade. Pretendemos esclarecer as possíveis origens e formas de apropriação, integração e reelaboração do pensamento esotérico na produção poética afecta ao Modernismo português, tendo Fernando Pessoa, seu expoente máximo, como figura central do nosso inquérito. Focando as relações entre a poesia e o Conhecimento esotérico – pluridimensional, transformador e potencialmente salvífico – , elaborámos uma análise textual da obra de diversos poetas inseridos no grande quadro da poesia portuguesa da modernidade – Antero de Quental, Gomes Leal, Camilo Pessanha, Teixeira de Pascoaes, Fernando Pessoa, Mário Saa, Raul Leal e José Régio – e prosseguimos até a uma síntese interpretativa que, segundo acreditamos, permite um mais cabal entendimento do papel desempenhado pelo esoterismo na construção poética moderna.

This paper focuses in esotericism, the millennial intellectual and spiritual heritage, deeply implicated in the literary creation of all times, both in the East and the West. Our specific objective is to make more explicit the relevance of this system of spiritualistic thinking in the Portuguese poetry of modernity. We intend to clarify the possible origins and forms of appropriation, integration and re-elaboration of esoteric thought in the poetic creation of the Portuguese Modernism, with Fernando Pessoa, its greatest exponent, as the central figure of our inquiry. Focusing on the relations between poetry and esoteric Knowledge, which is multi-dimensional, transformative and potentially salvific, we try to elaborate a textual analysis of the work of several poets integrated in the Portuguese poetry of modernity – Antero de Quental, Gomes Leal, Camilo Pessanha, Teixeira de Pascoaes, Fernando Pessoa, Mário Saa, Raul Leal and José Régio – we proceed to an interpretative synthesis which, we believe, leads to a more complete understanding of the role played by esotericism in the Modern poetic creation.
