This article aims to discuss, through reporting events considered key and their forms of exposure in the media, how press and television Portuguese portrayed immigrants and the co-work developed between the High Commissioner for Immigration and Intercultural Dialogue (ACIDI/ACM), a self-regulatory body of Press and Academy to change the media way of how they described immigrants. These organisations worked together for a less stereotypical report and without only negative view about their presence in Portuguese society in order to increase the level of knowledge about the subject and ensure rights to them.por
