Title: | Analysis of residual stresses induced by dry turning of difficult-to-machine materials | Authors: | Outeiro, J. C. Pina, J. C. Saoubi, R. M' Pusavec, F. Jawahir, I. S. |
Keywords: | Modelling; Machining; Residual stresses | Issue Date: | 2008 | Citation: | CIRP Annals - Manufacturing Technology. 57:1 (2008) 77-80 | Abstract: | Critical issues in machining of difficult-to-cut materials are often associated with short tool-life and poor surface integrity, where the resulting tensile residual stresses on the machined surface significantly affect the component's fatigue life. This study presents the influence of cutting process parameters on machining performance and surface integrity generated during dry turning of Inconel 718 and austenitic stainless steel AISI 316L with coated and uncoated carbide tools. A three-dimensional Finite Element Model was also developed and the predicted results were compared with those measured. | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10316/4340 | DOI: | 10.1016/j.cirp.2008.03.076 | Rights: | openAccess |
