Cabral, Césaire, Du Bois: ampliar o alcance das lutas de emancipação

Abstract

Este artigo analisa a noção de emancipação a partir do trabalho de Cabral, Césaire e Du Bois, pretendendo assim apontar para o lugar matricial ocupado por estes três pensadores na necessária, mas complexa, articulação das lutas entre si. Esta perspetiva comparada ajuda a perceber que, independentemente do contexto no qual se exerceu a opressão (escravatura, colonialismo), a teoria da luta pela emancipação colocou perguntas complexas, tais como os limites que a dita emancipação devia alcançar. Esta reflexão a partir dos três autores conduz-nos, por fim, à questão da ferramenta utilizada para atingir tal objetivo: a tradução intercultural, utopia para alguns, recurso imprescindível para outros.

This article examines the concept of emancipation in Cabral, Césaire and Du Bois as well as the key role played by these three intellectuals in the necessary, and complex, articulaton of the struggles among themselves. This compared perspective contributes to realize that, regardless of the context where oppression occurs (slavery, colonialism), the theory of the struggle for emancipation brings complex questions to the fore, such as the very limits that emancipation should achieve. This discussion leads fnally to the question of the means used to reach that particular objective: intercultural translation, an utopia for some, but an indispensable resource for others.
