Os Romanos de Castro Verde (Conventus Pacensis, Lusitania)

Abstract

A circunstância de se haver reencontrado a fotografia de uma estela perdida, para além da surpresa inicial, levou a que se pensasse em reflectir melhor sobre os dados – sobretudo epigráficos – que se conheciam da época romana provenientes do território do actual concelho de Castro Verde (Conventus Pacensis, Lusitania). A surpresa deu lugar à convicção de que aí se registou uma actividade ímpar de uma população que, nomeadamente pela onomástica, merece uma atenção particular.

Manuel Maia found the photograph that he was done of a lost roman stele with inscription. The surprise induced a more exhaustive research about the apparent individuality of the people who, at Roman time, lived in this term of the actual Castro Verde municipality (Conventus Pacensis, Lusitania). And this deeper reflexion gave us the conviction that the anthroponomy registered in the inscriptions was there very singular indeed.
