Pelos meandros do xisto: o património rural na Freguesia de Vide

Abstract

Em Pleno Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela apresenta-se um pecúlio cultural que praticamente se desvaneceu da memória de quem com ele conviveu. Na freguesia da Vide, os indivíduos que nela encontram as suas origens foram agora questionados sobre o conceito de património cultural e rural sendo convidados a dar a sua colaboração para encontrar os meios mais eficazes que possam salvaguardar a sua memória e identidade. Recorda-se o pensamento que afirma “um povo sem história é um povo sem identidade”. Conhecer o património cultural deste território rural, os hábitos e costumes da sua população, forneceu a perspectiva socioeconómica das suas gentes e da sua história. Foi esse caminho o que se pretendeu percorrer: recuperar, hoje mais através da memória, um património esquecido. Os aspectos da economia rural, das várias aldeias que integram o território, as culturas agrícolas, as práticas diárias e as artes e ofícios tradicionais, marcaram com relevo o desenvolvimento económico de tempos antigos mas correm o risco de se perder no tempo presente. Procura-se descrever para melhor conhecer as infraestruturas dos aglomerados urbanos, em que as habitações, as edificações de carácter religioso ou as escolas se revelavam como elementos mais expressivos. Também se evidenciam outras estruturas de utilização colectiva, como as fontes, os fornos e as eiras, imprescindíveis na subsistência das populações que delas se serviram. Percorrendo esse ambiente de vivências rurais apresentam-se os moinhos de cereais, os lagares de vinho ou ainda os lagares de azeite, essenciais no processo de transformação dos produtos agrícolas. Dão-se a conhecer as diferentes formas de organização do espaço dedicado à exploração agrícola, bem como os diferentes sistemas de rega e outras edificações de cariz rural, utilizados no território em estudo. Com a apresentação do património da freguesia de Vide, das existências agora registadas com a colaboração dos actores locais, colocam-se dúvidas sobre quais as perspectivas do seu futuro. O que fazer com esta tomada de consciência do património rural? Que projectos desenvolvidos podem fornecer indicadores para delinear e reforçar um programa para a revitalização do tecido produtivo local? Quais os resultados dos programas de reabilitação patrimonial em territórios próximos, com características socioeconómicas similares, implementados nas últimas décadas? Colocadas estas questões, analisados os ensaios já efectuados noutros locais, a tese “Pelos meandros do xisto: o património rural na Freguesia de Vide” procura apresentar uma proposta de salvaguarda para o património rural da freguesia de Vide, na esperança de que esse património engendrado em múltiplas gerações consiga aproximar as gerações vindouras ao território e aos habitantes que ainda por ali resistem. O mundo rural tradicional desaparece a passos largos perdendo irremediavelmente capacidade de adaptação aos novos tempos e à nova realidade socioeconómica. Consagra-se pelas políticas das últimas quatro décadas que as cidades são única saída para a sobrevivência das gerações rurais mais jovens. Só o passar do tempo poderá aclarar se o Interior de Portugal voltará à sua condição de território maninho.
