The article aims to analyze the facets of the “having barrier” for people with Down Syndrome in Portugal. Interviews were conducted with 11 privileged informants, 16 people with Down Syndrome and their mothers. The results show the facets of the barrier of having that put such people in the place of non-consumers. It should be noted that we do not advocate the integration of people with disabilities into the capitalist system, given that it is an intrinsically unequal system, it is important for us to question its maintenance and make its consequences visible.pt
