In Euripides' Electra, the matricide becomes, as Pohlenz (1961) has already observed, the determinant tragic event of the play's structure, and the ethos of the mythical daughter of Agamemnon appears provocatively reconfigured. The protagonist's desire for revenge is nourished by the deep hatred she expresses for her mother and for Aegisthus, those who are responsible for her father's murder. In this critical reading of the play, we intend to analyse the discursive expression of Electra's feelings of hatred for Clytemnestra and Aegisthus, which drive her desire for revenge in extremis. The analysis of this pathos that dominates the character of the protagonist, and that, curiously, leads to a feeling of regret, in the case of matricide, picks up the Aristotelian description of orge and misos, presented in Book II of Rhetoric, and has as main theoretical reference the studies of David Konstan.pt
