Given the strategical importance that the community pharmacy has in the health system, it is essential, in a time of pandemic, that the pharmacy service continues to ensure the quality and effectiveness to which we have become accustomed, continuing to contribute to normal access to medication, promoting rational use of the drug and the well-being of the community and also functioning as information spots, which can reduce the number of unnecessary visits to the emergency room. Considering that we live in unusual times due to the Covid-19 pandemic and that the new “normality” will be different from what we knew before, strategic planning may assume particular importance. This work intends to analyze SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats) of two community pharmacies located in distinct places. The main objective is to provide the analyzed pharmacies with a moment of strategic reflection, allowing them to face the challenges that are expected for the coming time. Another purpose is to identify the differences between an urban pharmacy and a rural one. As a result of the SWOT strategical analysis, there were two areas that stood out, due to their transversal nature and the emphasis placed on issues by the management of the firms: the reinforced presence in social networks and online and the demand for complementary services to increase offer and attract more customers. These issues will be analysed and implemented with more celerity as a result of the current pandemic despite our intention to work on them before and independently of the Covid-19 pandemic. |
