Para além de aspectos relacionados ao parto, maternidade e infanticídio, a obra explora o conceito de infância e de educação em diálogo com o grupo social. Enfatiza os comportamentos e estímulos educacionais das sociedades tradicionais e sua ligação aos seus contextos sociais e culturais que se reĘ etem sobre a educação dos mais novos. Neste cenário, a criança é estimulada em sua autonomia e habilidades sociais através das brincadeiras com grupos multietários. O exercício social da aprendizagem pela consequência dos atos, comum na sociedade tradicional observada pelo autor, serve de reĘ exão ao polêmico tema contemporâneo da punição física ou moral nos processos educativos. Ainda que a obra não esteja focada no âmbito da educação, o autor apresenta particularidades sociais e culturais que permitem-nos reĘ etir sobre como estão sendo educadas nossas crianças numa sociedade avançada tecnologicamente e empobrecida humanamente. is work brings reections about childhood, education, and culture from the book “e world until yesterday: What can we learn from traditional societies?”, by Jared Diamond, with particular focus on chapter ve “Educating children”, from part three “New and old”. In addition to aspects related to childbirth, maternity, and infanticide, the book explores the concept of childhood and education in dialogue with the social group. It emphasizes the behaviours and educational stimuli of traditional societies and their connection to their social and cultural contexts that are reected in the education of the youngest. In this scenario, the child is stimulated in his autonomy and social skills by playing with multietarian groups. e social exercise of learning as a consequence of the acts, common in traditional society observed by the author, serves as a reection on the controversial contemporary issue of physical or moral punishment in educational processes. Although the work is not focused on the eld of education, the author presents social and cultural particularities that allow us to reect on how our children are being educated in a technologically advanced and humanly impoverished society. |
