Title: | Seismic Perfomance Evaluation of a Structural Wall Building | Authors: | Quintero, Juan Carlos Vielma | Orientador: | Perez, Juan Carlos Vielma | Keywords: | Perfomance based design, Nonlinear analysis, ASCE 7-16, ASCE 41-17, ACHISINA, Shear wall structure. | Issue Date: | 13-Feb-2022 | Place of publication or event: | Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso | Abstract: | Currently, Performance based design shows an increase in its practical use, thanks to computational improvements, the sophistication and dissemination of nonlinear analysis methods, and the development of commercial programs that facilitate its use. To this advance, we can attribute the ability to evaluate in the non-linear range the effect of seismic events of great magnitude on the structural behavior of the building, verify preliminary designs based on force-based methods, validate prescriptions design regulations, and determinate deformations and request accelerations that can be translated into parameters of structural damage and economic losses, among other functions. To this end, guiding documents are presented that present the methodology to carry out and its requirements, each with its different objectives, evaluation criteria, analysis methods, and other aspects, revealing the lack of consensus that exists for the method. Due to this, in the following memory, the state of the art of performance-based design is studied, and some of the most relevant methods are applied, such as the methods of ASCE 41-17, ASCE 7-16, and the alternative procedure of ACHISINA to a structure based on shear walls, designed according to the current Chilean regulations in which the spectral modal analysis is used. Within its application, the modeling of the earthquake-resistant structure of the building is addressed in a non-elastic analysis framework, the preparation of seismic records, and the aspects that limit the rigorous application of the method. Finally, the results obtained in their respective analyzes to evaluate the structural performance are compared with the corresponding performance criteria of each standard, also serving as a point of comparison between the demands of each methodology and knowing the main complications that can occur during the application of the methods. | Description: | Documentos apresentados no âmbito do reconhecimento de graus e diplomas estrangeiros | URI: | https://hdl.handle.net/10316/109369 | Rights: | openAccess |
