Juventudes nas trilhas incertas da vida e do trabalho no Brasil

Abstract

Como a formação escolar, a entrada no mundo do trabalho (particularmente, no mercado de trabalho), a vida familiar e as projeções de futuro emergem nos projetos existenciais da geração atual de jovens brasileiros e na geração dos seus pais? Com essa pergunta de partida, as obras de Karl Polanyi e Francisco de Oliveira inspiraram a incursão analítica sobre o universo social e as categorias de entendimento de mundo dos jovens brasileiros da geração atual. O primeiro autor foi uma bússola a nos orientar sobre como os atores sociais lidam com o substancial avanço da colonização dos espaços da vida pela lógica do mercado. O segundo, referência da sociologia crítica no Brasil, forneceu aportes para a compreensão dos elementos macroestruturais que moldam, delimitam e potencializam as ações individuais e coletivas. A análise realizada se alicerçou em uma interpretação comparativa das trajetórias de vida e os esquemas classificatórios da vida social de duas gerações próximas: aquela dos adolescentes e jovens do presente com idade entre 15 e 30 anos de idade e a segunda, aquela dos seus pais e parentes próximos. Construímos uma abordagem sociológica em escala individual com base em 17 entrevistas realizadas com jovens e adolescentes e 16 com pais e parentes. O desafio foi captar o social no nível individual, seguindo a metodologia de elaboração de retratos sociológicos seguindo a perspectiva indicada por Bernard Lahire. Passando ao largo de polarizações artificiais entre autores e correntes, o trabalho incorporou os conceitos de habitus, da sociologia da prática de Pierre Bourdieu; de disposição, da sociologia disposicional de Lahire e de estrutura, da teoria da estruturação de Anthony Giddens. Tais conceitos foram estratégicos para a compreensão sobre como as grandes transformações que remodelaram as paisagens socioeconômicas do Brasil, especialmente na região nordeste, reverberaram nas instituições tradicionais de socialização e nos horizontes imaginativos dos atores. A compreensão de que há um conjunto de heranças materiais, simbólicas ou morais da geração anterior as quais são transferidas aos jovens e adolescentes apontou a centralidade da formação educacional nos projetos de vida e da incorporação da precariedade do trabalho como um dado do mundo social brasileiro. Também foi possível captar a emergência de uma sensibilidade moral da juventude atual em relação às demandas por reconhecimento e respeito em relação à diversidade, às relações de gênero e ao exercício da sexualidade. Mesmo de forma desarticulada, essa sensibilidade se traduz em uma potencialidade política de rejeição ao populismo de extrema-direita e às suas pautas políticas e morais regressivas.

How do schooling, The inclusion into the labour market, family life and future projections emerge in the existential projects of the current generation of young Brazilians and their parents' genera tion? With this starting question, the works of Karl Polanyi and Francisco de Oliveira inspired the analytical incursion into the social universe and the categories of understanding the world of young Brazilians. The first author mentioned was like a compass to guide us on how social actors deal with the substantial advance of the life spaces infected by the logic of the market. The second one is a baseline for critical sociology in Brazil, Mr Oliveira contributed to the understanding of the macrostructural elements that shape, enclose and enhance individual and collective actions. The analysis carried out was based on a comparative interpretation of the life trajectories and classifica tion schemes of the social life covering two close generations: adolescents and young people aged between 15 and 30 years old, and the second, their parents and close relatives. We built a sociolog ical approach on an individual scale based on 17 interviews with young people and adolescents and 16 with parents and relatives. The challenge was to capture the social at the individual level, fol lowing the methodology of producing sociological reports following the perspective pointed by Bernard Lahire. Skipping artificial polarizations between authors and theoretical frameworks, the project incorporated the concepts of habitus, from Pierre Bourdieu's sociology of practice; of dis position, from Lahire’s dispositional sociology and of structure, from the theory of structuration of Anthony Giddens. Such concepts were strategic to understand how the great transformations that reshaped the socioeconomic landscapes of Brazil, especially in the northeast region, reverberated in the traditional institutions of socialization and in the imaginative horizons of the actors. The under standing that there is a set of material, symbolic or moral inheritances from the previous genera tion, which are transferred to young people and adolescents, pointed to the centrality of educational training in life projects and the incorporation of the increasing labor insecurity as a fact to the Bra zilian social world. It was also possible to capture the emergence of a moral sensitivity of today's youth in relation to the demands for recognition and respect in relation to diversity, gender relations and the exercise of sexuality. Even in a disjointed way, this sensitivity translates into a political urgence of rejecting far-right populism and its regressive political and moral agendas.
