Relatório de estágio – A escolha dos elementos da fotografia como complemento da notícia na secção ‘Local’

Abstract

A imagem ocupa, cada vez mais, um lugar similar ao texto no que a uma notícia diz respeito. Tendo como questão de partida: “As fotografias que acompanham o texto nas notícias online são ilustrativas da situação falada ou apenas referenciais?”, o presente relatório propõe uma reflexão sobre as fotografias escolhidas para cada notícia num jornal.Quando olhamos para a capa de um jornal, ou até em formato online, a primeira coisa, a par do título, à qual damos mais atenção é à imagem escolhida para representar aquela notícia. Porquê uma igreja? Um rapaz a saltar para a piscina ou uma banca cheia de fruta? A imagem complementa o texto e já nos dá informações antes de o lermos. No entanto, é de salientar que a imagem não consegue incluir todos os elementos necessários à compreensão da notícia, dá-nos alguns elementos que podem fazer com que associemos o tema do texto através da imagem. É neste sentido que vai ser realizado o presente trabalho, ou seja, em perceber quais os elementos escolhidos pelos fotojornalistas para representar o tema e apresenta-lo ao público. Escolhem mostrar o tema, o local, o sujeito da notícia ou outro elemento relevante? Para isso foram analisadas todas as fotografias de notícias publicadas pela secção “Local” do jornal Público durante o mês de outubro de 2019 (um dos meses em que estive lá a estagiar). Assim sendo, pode-se dizer que o problema a analisar enquadra-se no nível de compreensão da notícia, por parte do leitor, quando associa a imagem ao título, por forma a tentar perceber o assunto de que vai ser falado no texto.

More than ever, the image projects a similar meaning to the article/story. Having the following question as a starting point " Do the pictures alongside the online articles the articles are merely illustrative or referencial?", the following report offers a reflexion about the chosen photographs for each article within the newspaper. When we look at an article on a newspaper cover or even on an online format, the first thing that draws our attention is not only the header but the chosen picture to that specific article. Why a church? A boy jumping to the pool? A fruit stand? The image complements the article and offers the readers information even before the article being read. However, it should be noted that the image cannot include all the elements necessary to understand the news, it gives us some elements that can make us associate the theme of the text through the image.It’s within this mindset that this assignment is going to unfold, in order to understand what are the elements chosen by the photojournalists to represent the subject and present it to the readers. Therefore, all the photographs published on the "local" section of the Publico Newspaper were analised during the October month of 2019(during my internship).Consequently, we can say that the matter to analise fits in the level of understanding of the news, on the part of the reader, when he associates the image with the title, in order to try to understand the subject that will be discussed in the text.
