O Efeito da Idade Relativa no Futebol Feminino: Um estudo com futebolistas participantes nos Campeonatos Europeus de Seniores e Sub-17

Abstract

Ao intervalo de tempo que faz com que no mesmo ano de seleção, existam crianças e jovens com quase um ano de idade de diferença, dá-se o nome de Idade Relativa, e a vantagem teórica que este acontecimento confere às crianças que nasceram primeiro, é denominado de Efeito de Idade Relativa (EIR). No futebol, o efeito da idade relativa sobressai ainda mais, devido ao facto dos jovens jogadores serem agrupados por escalões etários com períodos de 2 anos de nascimento. O principal objetivo deste estudo foi analisar o efeito da idade relativa no conjunto de futebolistas femininas selecionadas para o Campeonato da Europa Sénior (2017) e para o Campeonato da Europa Sub-17 (2018). Observou-se ainda a prevalência deste efeito em função da posição funcional em campo. A amostra foi composta por 537 jogadoras de futebol feminino, das quais, 64 eram guarda-redes, 173 defesas, 171 médios e 119 avançadas. Sendo que o número de participantes no Campeonato da Europa Feminino a nível sénior era de 368 e no Campeonato Sub17 era de 159. As análises foram realizadas com o software SPSS, versão (25.0) e o nível de significância estabelecido a p≤0,05.A nível sénior não foram encontradas diferenças significativas no que concerne à distribuição das jogadoras por trimestre de nascimento, bem como ao nível das posições funcionais em campo.Já a nível Sub-17, foram encontradas diferenças significativas no que respeita à distribuição das jogadoras por trimestre de nascimento, e nas posições funcionais, nomeadamente nas posições específicas de guarda-redes e defesas. Através deste trabalho foi possível concluir que não se verifica a presença do EIR no campeonato da Europa Sénior Feminino, mas que se verifica a presença do EIR no Campeonato da Europa Sub-17 feminino.

At the time interval that makes the same year of selection, there are children and youth with almost one year of age difference, is called Relative Age. The theoretical advantage that this event gives children who were born first is called of Relative Age Effect (RIL). In football, the effect of relative age stands out even more, due to the fact that young players are grouped by age with periods of 2 years of birth.The main objective of this study was to analyze the effect of relative age on the female soccer athletes selected for the Senior European Championship (2017) and the U17 European Championship (2018) and to observe the effect of relative age taking into account the position in the field.The sample consisted of 537 female soccer players, of whom 64 were goalkeepers, 173 defenders, 171 middle and 119 advanced. The number of participants in the European Women's Championship at the senior level was 368 and in the Sub17 Championship, it was 159. The analyses were carried out with SPSS software, version (25.0) and the level of significance established at p≤0.05.At the senior level, no significant differences were found regarding the distribution of female players by the quarter of birth, as well as the level of functional positions in the field.At sub-17 level, significant differences were found regarding the distribution of female players by the quarter of birth, and in functional positions, especially in the specific positions of goalkeepers and defenders.Through this work, it was possible to conclude that there is no presence of the EIR in the Senior Women's European Championship, but that there is the presence of the EIR in the Women's U17 European Championship.
