As potencialidades e os entraves ao jornalismo online no Diário de Notícias

Abstract

A expansão do jornalismo para a Internet criou novos caminhos para a produção noticiosa, mas alterou também a forma como a profissão é encarada pelos leitores e os próprios jornalistas. A criação de textos noticiosos no cibermeio permite a convergência dos diversos formatos dos média tradicionais (som, texto e imagem) e a disseminação da informação, podendo esta chegar a uma maior audiência. É, portanto, mais acessível e barata, encontrando-se à distância de um clique. No entanto, motivou igualmente uma pressão temporal num meio de comunicação vincadamente marcado pelo imediatismo. Para além disso, ajudou, juntamente com as redes sociais, à propagação de fake news, que tornam difícil a distinção entre o que é uma notícia e o que é mera suposição ou rumor. A constante procura de gostos e partilhas nas redes sociais tornou mais frequente a prática do clickbait, ou seja, da caça às visualizações das notícias, em que o leitor é atraído por um título sensacionalista que muitas vezes deturpa a realidade expressada no texto. Este relatório propõe uma reflexão sobre esta temática, motivada pelo estágio realizado no Diário de Notícias. Os três meses no jornal permitiram a aquisição de experiência na área do jornalismo, nomeadamente na secção online, na forma sucinta e verosímil da escrita de textos noticiosos. O estágio forneceu também as ferramentas básicas para a publicação de artigos no site do Diário de Notícias e contribuiu para uma maior seleção de informação credível. Todo o trabalho foi realizado em cooperação com os ciberjornalistas do jornal, que se mostraram disponíveis para orientar e aconselhar. Ademais ajudou a compreender quais as grandes potencialidades do jornalismo online e quais os entraves que o limitam.

The emergence of journalism on the Internet has created new forms of writing articles but also changed the way this profession is seen by its readers and journalists their selves. The creation of news in the cyberspace has allowed the convergence of the different types of traditional media (sound, text and image) and the spread of information making it possible to reach a bigger audience. It is, therefore, more accessible and cheaper. However, it also created pressure to speed things up due to internet’s immediacy character. Despite that it also helped - along with social networks – spreading fake news which makes it hard to distinguish between news and rumour. The constant need for likes and shares in social media allowed clickbait to attract the reader through the use of sensationalist titles in the articles. Most of time those titles don't even match the reality exposed in the story. This report reflects about this theme motivated by the internship in Diário de Notícias. The time spent at the newspaper made it possible to gain experience in journalism, more specifically online journalism, by writing credible texts. It also gave the necessary tools to publish articles on the website and contributed to a better selection of information. All the work was done in collaboration with the cyberjournalists of the journal who were mostly available to guide and counsel. Finally, the internship allowed me to gain a better understanding of online journalism's potentialities and obstacles.
