Pátio como unidade do complexo agrícola - Reconversão de usos de um património rural

Abstract

Esta dissertação pretende investigar e interpretar, através da concretização de um projecto, a reconversão de usos de um património de carácter rural, situado no concelho de Penacova, distrito de Coimbra. Abordando uma proposta real, este trabalho procura reforçar a pertinência da coesão teórico-prática na elaboração de um projecto de Arquitectura. A Quinda de Oliveira do Mondego é um complexo agrícola pertencente à família desde a sua fundação, início do séc. XX, e que actualmente apresenta um considerável estado de degradação e descaracterização, tendo os anos e constantes reajustes programáticos desvirtuado a sua identidade vernacular. O seu método de organização espacial, de pátio central que distribui as diversas dependências em seu redor, é, simultaneamente, o tema que despoleta toda esta investigação. Assim sendo, antes de intervir em tal património, propõe-se efectuar um estudo do pátio no contexto popular português, tentando perceber e identificar as suas premissas, as suas características regionais, e os seus modos de aplicação e utilização, com especial foco nas relações que o mesmo estabelece com os edifícios que o enquadram. Para tal, torna-se essencial contextualizar e informar o tema abordando bibliografia como Arquitetura Popular em Portugal (1961) e Arquitectura Tradicional Portuguesa (1992), de maneira a estabelecer um mais aprofundado entendimento do pátio, da sua presença no cenário rural do país, e da sua importância como unidade do complexo agrícola. Advindo desde estudo, e numa segunda fase da dissertação, transforma-se a realidade anteriormente investigada. Concebe-se então uma proposta de projecto para a Quinta de Oliveira do Mondego, justamente formulada a partir das articulações espaciais entre pátio e edificado, dotando-a assim de uma nova identidade, usos e funções, com um programa de Turismo em Espaço Rural, e salvaguardando o pátio como unidade do novo complexo.

This dissertation intends to investigate and interpret, through the concretization of a project, the reconversion of uses of a rural heritage, located in the municipality of Penacova, district of Coimbra. Approaching a real proposal, this work tries to reinforce the importance of the theoretical-practical cohesion in the elaboration of an Architecture project. Quinta de Oliveira do Mondego is an agricultural complex belonging to the family since its foundation, beginning of the 20th century. that at the moment, reveals a considerable state of degradation and decharacterization, having the passage of time and constant programmatic adjustments distorted its vernacular identity. Its method of spatial organization, the central courtyard that distributes the various dependencies around it, is, simultaneously, the theme that all this research if focused on. Therefore, before intervening in such heritage, it is proposed to study the courtyard in the portuguese rural context, trying to perceive and identify its premises, its regional characteristics, and its application and use, with a special focus on the spatial relations that it establishes with the buildings around it. Therefore, it is essential to contextualize the subject by approaching bibliography such as Arquitectura Popular em Portugal (1961) and Arquitectura Tradicional Portuguesa (1992), in order to establish a deeper understanding of the courtyard, its presence in the rural setting of the country, and its importance as the unit of the agricultural complex. From such study, and in a second phase of the dissertation, we transform the previously investigated reality. It is, therefore, conceived a proposal for Quinta de Oliveira do Mondego that is precisely formulated from the spatial articulations between the courtyard and its surrounding buildings, thus providing it with a new identity and functions, through a program of Rural Tourism, and safeguarding the courtyard as the unit of the new complex.
