Clima escolar, participação docente e relação entre os professores de educação física e a comunidade educativa

Abstract

A presente investigação tem como principal objectivo dar um contributo para compreender, numa perspectiva comparativa, como é que os professores de Educação Física e os professores das restantes disciplinas percepcionam o Clima Escolar e o seu grau de Participação na vida da mesma. Pretende ainda, e também numa perspectiva comparativa, conhecer as percepções que os dois grupos de professores têm acerca das relações interpessoais que os professores de Educação Física estabelecem com os vários elementos da Comunidade Educativa. Na sequência dos objectivos do estudo, especificados no ponto anterior, optámos por uma metodologia de natureza quantitativa, não experimental e descritiva, sendo o questionário, o instrumento de recolha de dados utilizado. Foi construído, no âmbito desta investigação, o questionário Relação entre os Professores de Educação Física e a Comunidade Educativa (RPEFCE) e foi ainda utilizado e adaptado o questionário Clima Escolar e Participação dos Professores (CEPP). A nossa amostra é constituída por 141 professores (60 de Educação Física e 81 de outras disciplinas), a leccionar nos segundo e terceiro ciclos do Ensino Básico e no Ensino Secundário, e que no Ano Lectivo de 2009/2010 exerciam funções nas Escolas Secundárias ou Agrupamentos de Escolas dos Concelhos de Cantanhede e de Castelo Branco. A partir dos principais resultados concluímos que os professores têm opiniões positivas acerca das várias dimensões do clima escolar: percepção acerca do(a) Director(a), dos alunos, da relação entre os professores da escola e da relação entre a escola e a comunidade. O grau de participação dos professores de Educação Física é maior quanto mais positiva for a sua percepção acerca dos alunos e da relação entre a escola e a comunidade. Já os professores de outras disciplinas revelam um grau de participação mais elevado quando apresentam percepções mais positivas acerca dos alunos, da relação entre colegas da escola e da relação entre a escola e a comunidade. O grau de participação dos professores na vida da escola é, em geral, médio ou elevado. Relativamente à percepção dos professores acerca das relações entre os professores de Educação Física e a Comunidade Educativa, os professores de Educação IV Física apresentam uma percepção mais positiva que os professores das outras disciplinas. Os professores de Educação Física com melhor percepção das relações que estabelecem com os vários elementos da Comunidade Educativa têm também uma percepção mais positiva do Clima Escolar. Os professores de Educação Física com percepções mais positivas acerca da sua relação com o(a) Director(a), com a comunidade e com os colegas das restantes disciplinas são os que apresentam maior grau de Participação na vida da Escola. Por fim, os professores de Educação Física que leccionam no terceiro ciclo do Ensino Básico e no Ensino Secundário são os que têm melhor percepção acerca da relação entre os professores de Educação Física.

This research has as a main goal to contribute to understand, in a comparative perspective how physical education teachers and other teachers view the school environment and their level of participation in the school life. It has also as objective to know the perception that both groups have about interpersonal relationships that physical education teachers establish within the members of the school community. According to the objectives of this research, referred previously, we have chosen a quantitative methodology instead of a descriptive and experimental one, using a questionnaire as a way of collecting data. For this research it was made a questionnaire named “The relationship between physical education teachers and the school community” and it was also used and adapted a second questionnaire “The school environment and the teachers‟ participation”. Our sample is constituted by 141 teachers (60 physical education teachers and 81 from different other school subjects), teaching elementary , intermediate and secondary levels during the school year of 2009/2010 at schools of Cantanhede and Castelo Branco districts. From the results we got, we can conclude that the teachers have positive opinions about the different dimensions of the school environment: the perception of the school headmaster, the students, the relationship within the school teachers, and the relationship between the school and the community. The level of participation of the physical education teachers is more positive and greater, according to the perception they have of students and the relationship between the school and the community. On the other side, the other teachers reveal a level of participation higher when they have more positive perception about the students, the relationship with the colleagues at school and the relationship between the school and the community. The level of participation of the teacher in the school life is, broadly, medium or high. As far as the teachers‟ perception is concerned about the relationship between physical education teachers and the school community, the physical education teachers show a more positive perception than the other school subjects teachers. The physical education teachers with a better perception of the relationship that they establish within VI the different members of the school community, have also a better perception of the school environment. The physical education teachers with more positive perceptions of their relationship with the school headmaster, the community and their mates from the other school subjects are the ones who play a more active role (level of participation) in the school life.
