A investigação encerra apresentando algumas conclusões.
The investigation leading to the writing of the PhD thesis has been conducted to find and define the method in which we can see how Roberto Rossellini works in those films he has directed between 1960 and 1975 known as the audiovisual enciclopedia. The nature of this step – according to their didactic characteristics, the aplication of new technics of shooting and editing, the new audience that have been reached by television – is different from the previous one because now the matter is the history of mankind that the author intends to work on. The method of Roberto Rossellini continues the previous one he as developed in films. The relation he establishes through cinematic realism continues through didactism, according to Jan Comenius - the direct vision of things that replaces the allusive speach about things which is cinema characteristic. The cinematic realism has failed in classic cinema and has been installed in television as naturalism with the effects of realism. For Rossellini the method of realism needs to be detoured by pedagogy of documents in the way to reech the audiovisual education of the history of mankind. The investigation proceeds also by questioning the contemporary proceeds Rossellini uses in what concerns the breaks in artistic field and mass media. These breaks are the consequence of the change on his european point of view and his detour to other 7 non european cultures. The procedures in the relation between the artist and spectator are made by strategies of pedagogic nature such as the technologies of image, sound and broadcasting. The fact is extremely important to some artists and educators and is crucial to the author we are studying now. This change of point of view leads him to different matters by the treatment of worl and national themes instead of personal or social ones. The universe is now the planet because the new goal is the history of earth. The investigation ends with some conclusions. We can establish that television is the device of knowledge; that artistic operations are keeped in the television stage; that the didactic procedures cancelled the effects of realism on benefit of direct vision; that themes and figures have changed from individual and collective to universal; that Rossellini shares with other artists of his time the same care with human knowledge and that is artist’s work through pedagogic means. Finally some aesthetic ideas stand from Rossellini’s artistic practice in this part of his work. The first regards the image of television and the image of film concluding that that one is lends itself for its study and that this one lends itself for contemplation. The second regards the statute of reality in television image by comparing with the reality in film image by considering that one precedes this one and not the opposite. The third regards the work of the actor and of the set by considering that both reinforce the primitive side of cinema before talk pictures and that both neutralize themselves leading to what is said. The forth regards to the documents as basis to dramaturgy and no more crude contemporary action. The fifth regards the question of authorship in a so diluted basis such Roberto Rossellini developed to rise his humanist contract.
