Caracterização das paredes de alvenaria da vila de Tentúgal

Abstract

Existe hoje um interesse renovado na reabilitação das construções tradicionais, construídas usualmente com paredes de alvenaria e pavimentos / coberturas em madeira. A reabilitação das construções antigas exige conhecimento específico e a caracterização dos materiais e tecnologias existentes. Na ausência de estudos que permitam obter este conhecimento, as intervenções irão constituir uma perda do valor cultural e da autenticidade do património nacional construído. O presente trabalho insere-se numa estratégia que pretende contribuir para o conhecimento do comportamento mecânico das construções antigas nacionais. Desta forma, apresenta-se um levantamento das tipologias das paredes de alvenaria na vila de Tentúgal, bem como uma proposta para base de dados e metodologia de levantamento e tratamento de informação. Apresenta-se ainda a caracterização mecânica das paredes, com macacos planos, e da pedra calcária que as constitui, com recurso ao ensaio de carotes. Comprova-se que as propriedades mecânicas das paredes são controladas pelo aparelho da alvenaria e pela argamassa.

Today, there is a renewed interest in the rehabilitation of traditional buildings, composed usually with masonry walls and timber floors / roofs. Nevertheless, the rehabilitation of old buildings requires specific knowledge and the characterization of existing materials and technologies. In the absence of studies that contribute to this knowledge, the interventions will probably result in a loss of the cultural value and authenticity of the built heritage. The present paper is part of an attempt to increase the knowledge of the mechanical behaviour of traditional old buildings in Portugal. Therefore, the paper presents a survey of the wall typologies in the Tentúgal village, as well as a proposal for a database and a methodology for survey and data processing. The mechanical characterization of the walls, using flat-jack testing, and the limestone of the walls, using cores removed locally, is also addressed. It is observed that the mechanical properties of the walls are mostly controlled by the masonry bond and by the mortar.
