Abstract

Ao longo da história, Macau viveu uma extensa expansão territorial através de projetos de aterro. Inicialmente cobrindo apenas 3 km2, o território expandiu-se para cerca de 30 km2 através da reclamação de terras do mar e da integração das ilhas de Taipa e Coloane. Esse rápido crescimento foi impulsionado por projetos de melhoria do porto, regulação sanitária, introdução de novos bairros e necessidade de acomodar um número crescente de visitantes e exigências turísticas em evolução.O foco desta análise incide sobre a evolução dos aterros nas ilhas de Taipa e Coloane e o seu impacto no desenvolvimento urbano. Ao examinar os desenvolvimentos históricos e comparar mapas de diferentes períodos, é possível identificar e compreender as transformações físicas e urbanas nestas áreas. Questões-chave a serem abordadas incluem os principais projetos de aterro em Taipa e Coloane e como contribuíram para a expansão territorial de Macau, bem como a relação entre o desenvolvimento urbano e a morfologia das ilhas.Este estudo tem, também, como objetivo explorar o propósito e as intenções por trás da implementação de infraestruturas nas áreas aterradas e como é que esses fatores contribuíram para o crescimento de Taipa e Coloane.Considerando Macau como um lugar que compartilha diferentes culturas e realidades - ou seja, a conexão entre elas - é importante reconhecer a infraestrutura que conecta não apenas Macau, Taipa e Coloane internamente, mas também com o mundo exterior por meio do porto, aeroporto e fronteiras terrestres existentes.
