Materialidade e modernidade no Livro do Desassossego

Abstract

No presente artigo pretendemos pôr em paralelo as teses de Walter Benjamin sobre a es-crita na modernidade a partir do texto “Paris, the Capital of the Nineteenth Century”, onde se faz referência à fotografia e outros meios de produção modernos, com a prosa do Livro do Desassossegode Fernando Pessoa. Lisboa, cidade moderna como foi a Paris de Baudelaire, participou dos mesmos elementos de modernidade como qualquer das capitais europeias.

In this paper we put in parallel Walter Benjamin’s theses about the writing in the moder-nity, from the text “Paris, the Capital of the Nineteenth Century”, where photography and other mod-ern means of production are referenced, with the prose of the Book of Disquiet by Fernando Pessoa. Lisbon, a modern city as Baudelaire’s Paris was, has the same constraints that any european capital in modernism.
