Biography
Nuno Francisco Baía da Silva Garcia Saraiva. In December 2017, he completed the Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Coimbra. Studied abroad in Brno, Czech Republic (2015-16), and Split, Croatia (2016-17), under the Erasmus+ programme. In 2018, enrolled the doctoral program in Sustainable Energy Systems under the Energy for Sustainability initiative - MIT Portugal at the University of Coimbra. In July 2019, finished the curricular course of the doctoral programme. In September 2019, started the doctoral thesis. In February and March 2020, was visiting the Department of Conservation at Trinity College Dublin in a research internship part of his doctoral project. Participated as a research fellow in 2 projects where explored building simulation tools to study the hygrothermal and lighting conditions; and monitored and assessed environmental conditions in heritage buildings from a preventive conservation perspective. As a result of his research, he published 1 paper in an international journal and 2 papers presented at international conferences and published in proceedings. Main research interests are: building simulation, climate control systems, energy efficiency, heritage buildings, indoor air quality and preventive conservation.
