Biography
Delfim Leão is Full Professor at the Institute of Classical Studies and a researcher at the Center for Classical and Humanistic Studies, University of Coimbra. His main areas of interest are ancient history, law and political theory of the Greeks, theatrical pragmatics, and the ancient novel, on which he has published around 200 works in international journals, books, and book chapters. He also has a strong interest in open science and scholarly communication.

Amongst other functions, he is currently Vice-Rector for Culture, Communication and Open Science at Coimbra University, Member of the UNESCO Open Science Advisory Committee, representing UNESCO Electoral Group I (Western Europe and North American States), and Member of the EOSC (European Open Science Cloud), Task Force on “Research Careers, Recognition and Credit”; member of the Executive Assembly of OPERAS (ESFRI infrastructure), participating in European projects such as OPERAS-P, TRIPLE, OPERAS-PLUS, PALOMERA. He is also an appointed member of the Scientific Council of the CNRS - Sciences Humaines & Sociales (2023-2028).

Together with Lautaro Roig Lanzillotta, he is the Editor of “Brill’s Plutarch Studies” (https://brill.com/display/serial/BPS).
He is (2015-) the Director of the “Atlantís-Review” journal (http://impactum-journals.uc.pt/index.php/atlantis) and of the “Humanitas-Supplementum” series (http://www.uc.pt/imprensa_uc/catalogo/classicadigitalia/series/SHS).
